Nexx Alarm - NXAL-100 - Setup and Configuration

Nexx Alarm - NXAL-100 - Setup and Configuration

1. See the Checklist below before starting
  1. A compatible, working alarm system:  1) Check Compatible Alarms   2) Your existing alarm has to be in working condition - that is you can arm/disarm with your alarm code and that there is no periodic beep going off (like backup battery needing replacement). Please see your alarm manual or research/contact your alarm installer/manufacturer for help in resolving any issues with your alarm to make sure it's working first before installing Nexx Smart Alarm.
  1. 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Internet connection
  2. Mobile device with enabled Bluetooth
  3. Access to the alarm system panel
  4. Phillips screwdriver
  5. Master or User alarm code (used to arm/disarm your alarm)
  6. For Honeywell / Ademco / ADT / Safewatch / First Alert Alarm Systems: the installer code to enable a keypad address
2. Enable Keypad Address (skip this step for DSC systems)

* ONLY FOR Honeywell / Ademco / ADT / Safewatch / First Alert Alarm Systems
* SKIP for DSC Systems

You must assign an unused keypad number for Nexx Alarm. If this keypad number is currently used by another existing keypad, then Nexx Alarm WILL NOT WORK.

There are typically 8 available keypad numbers ranging from 16 - 23. If unused, we recommend using 23 as the address number for Nexx Alarm. To enable address 23, enter the following sequence from your alarm keypad:

Installer code (default is 4112) ---> 800 --> *196 --> 1 ---> 0 ---> to exit: *99

If successful, you should hear 3 beeps.

The typical cause for failure to enable a keypad address is due to an invalid installer code. The default installer code is 4112.  If that doesn't work, you may have to reset your installer code.
Check out this article about the different types of alarm codes:

3. Install the Nexx Home app

 Download and install the Nexx Home app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

4. Create an Account

 Open the Nexx Home app and create an account with Nexx.

5. Connect Nexx Alarm device's connecting cable wires to the alarm panel
See the instruction videos here:

**MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT AC POWER AND BATTERY FIRST BEFORE PROCEEDING**

For DSC alarm systems:
Black wire ---> "BLK" or "AUX -"
Red wire ---> "RED" or "+ AUX"
Green wire ---> "GRN"
Yellow wire ---> "YEL"

For Honeywell / Ademco / ADT / Safewatch / First Alert:
Black wire ---> 4
Red wire ---> 5
Green wire ---> 6
Yellow wire ---> 7

6. NXAL-100 Placement

For good WiFi connectivity, use the included Velcro tape to attach Nexx Alarm on the exterior of the alarm panel enclosure.

Make sure you have enough space below the Nexx Alarm device in case you need to reset it.

7. Check Device Status

A. If the Green LED Nexx light is blinking - CONTINUE to the next step.
B. Green LED Nexx light is NOT blinking - RESET device.

To reset the device to factory default, use a paper clip or something similar to press and hold the reset button until the green Nexx LED light starts blinking.

8. Register Nexx Alarm NXAL-100 to Nexx Home

Before starting, make sure you have the following information:
  1. Brand and model number of your alarm system
  2. Master alarm arm/disarm code
  3. For models other than DSC: Installer code and Keypad address number
  4. Wi-Fi network name
  5. Wi-Fi password
Once you have the information, log into the Nexx Home app and tap the plus icon in the top right to select a device to register, select Nexx Alarm, and then follow the configuration process.

9. Test

After you've installed your Nexx Alarm device, open the Nexx Home app, tap on the registered name of your Nexx Alarm to open the detailed screen (this will pop up a big icon). Press and hold the activation button. After about 1.5 seconds, your alarm system should arm or disarm. The icon will turn RED for armed or GREEN for unarmed. This means you've successfully installed your Nexx Alarm device.
