Alexa requires very specific language to work consistently with Nexx Garage. Below are some commands that have worked consistently:
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to check garage door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to check door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to check garage”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to open garage door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to open door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to open garage”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to close garage door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to close door”
o “Alexa, tell Nexx Garage to close garage”
As a security feature, Amazon requires a PIN code to open (but not to close) the garage door so when Alexa asks for your PIN, respond with your PIN.
Please note all these commands involves "tell Nexx Garage" at the start. If you leave out the "tell", sometime certain commands may work and sometime may not. For example we tested some of the following commands:
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage open door"
Alexa said "Sorry I'm having trouble accessing Nexx Garage skill" but the garage door still opens
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage close door"
Alexa responds: "I don't know how to set door to that setting"
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage open garage door" -- this works but then its closing opposite does not:
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage close garage door" -- this does not work
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage door close door" -- sometime works/sometime doesn't
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage door close door 1" -- does not work
- "Alexa, Nexx Garage close door" -- does not work
So for best Alexa results, we recommend following our tested commands for Alexa that have worked consistently.
Thank you.
